Background of Chitalmari Upazila

Chitalmari is located at 22.6061 ° North 79.8390 ° East. A total of 24,308 families live here and the area of ​​the area is 192 sq km. Chitalmari Upazila is bounded on the north by Tungipara Upazila, on the south by Bagerhat Sadar Upazila and Kachua Upazila, on the east by Nazirpur Upazila and on the west by Mollahat Upazila and Fakirhat Upazila. The main rivers are Madhumati, Kaliganga, Chitra and Baleshwar.

 

Chitalmari upazila is situated on the south bank of the river Madhumati. Mollarhat Thana was disbanded and Chitalmari Thana was formed in 1971. It made its debut as an upazila on 6 November 1983. Its area is 26.45 sq km. It consists of 6 unions. Later a union was merged with Sadar upazila. After that a place called Chitalmari Upazila was made an upazila with 7 unions.
